Sevgi

Gilded Lily Volunteer since 2020

Sevgi first started volunteering with Gilded Lily by getting in contact with us about running some creative workshops. Since then, Sevgi has become a part of the Gilded Lily family and has facilitated lot of amazing workshops for us including showing groups of women how to do embroidery, jewellery-making, sewing & more.

She has also helped out at many of the events we attend within the community and is often first to offer her help.

“Gilded Lily group is a group of wonderful women. It makes me feel good to think that I have touched the life of any woman by volunteering with this group. Because I think every woman should be free, happy and productive. It also helps me meet new people and improve my English. I am very happy to be in this group.” – Sevgi

Cindy

Gilded Lily Volunteer since 2019

Cindy has been a great help to Gilded Lily as a Gilded volunteer photographer and assistant at various events and workshops over the past couple of years. Cindy is a fantastic content creator and has helped to boost the Gilded Lily profile by creating tiktoks and sharing about what we do on her social media platforms.

“Volunteering with Gilded Lily has been an immensely rewarding experience, particularly during the challenging period of isolation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. It provided me with a unique opportunity to engage with women from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of connection and purpose that greatly contributed to my improved mental well-being. The organization’s commitment to empowerment and community-building is truly commendable, and I am deeply grateful for the positive impact it has had on my life. Gilded Lily has been instrumental in not only combating isolation but also in promoting personal growth and resilience.” – Cindy

Sandra is one of our amazing volunteers, helping out with delivering crafting activities and at community events. She first came along to Gilded Lily in 2017 and was initially very shy. However, through time she began to come out of her shell and then we saw the cheeky, fun side of Sandra that we all know and love and she has been a part of the team ever since.

“At first I was very quiet when I went to the groups at Gilded Lily, I liked going to all the classes: crafting, sewing, anything that was on I was trying. It helped to keep me busy as at the time I had just lost my son, I was isolating in the house, wouldn’t go out or communicate with anyone until my other my son told me to go into Gilded Lily as we passed by it one day. Then I met Mary McLeod, she was so nice and invited me to join the sessions, all these years later and now you can’t keep me away! The ladies all made me feel very welcome, and now I even help out as a volunteer from time to time facilitating workshops like soap-making and arts & crafts. All the woman & staff are so nice I’ve made lots of good friends at Gilded Lily.

Nowadays, even if I don’t go to a workshop I still pop in to see people and have a tea or coffee, I really don’t know what I would do without Gilded Lily.” – Sandra

Jessi

“I’m so glad I’ve started to volunteer with Gilded Lily. Not only had it helped me with my own mental health and confidence, I find that as an actual person it’s helped. I’m more open and out there than before and by volunteering it gives me a new opportunity to do things that I’ve never done before”. – Jessi
